Almonds help control appetite and weight

The study investigated the effects of consuming almonds between meals on weight and appetite. The participants, 137 adults at risk of type 2 diabetes, were divided into three groups: a control group that avoided all nuts and seeds, a lunch group that ate 42.5 grams of almonds every day, and a snack group that consumed the same amount of nuts, roasted almonds. Despite consuming approximately 250 additional calories per day, thanks to the almonds, the participants did not increase the total number of calories, which prevented weight gain during the course of the four-week study since almonds help satisfy hunger and not continue eating.
